We’re here to support you in any way we can! We ask a lot from you as volunteers, and we appreciate the time, energy, and passion you bring each and every Saturday. We may only have an Econ Minor between the two of us, but we understand opportunity costs—there are a lot of other ways you can choose to spend your Saturday afternoons. And, believe us, the students appreciate it the most, even if they rarely mention it. Here are just a couple recent quotes as evidence:
“My mentors are super smart, and always help me problem solve. I know John (redacted) really wants a new coffee machine. One day I’m going to buy him the coolest coffee machine ever.” – Junior Mentee
“I’ve learned so much the last three years. I can’t wait to go to college and prove to my mentors that all the time they spent on me was worth it!” – Senior Mentee
Whether it be improving communication between programs (e.g. mentors and W&CT), providing supplemental trainings or meetings, or helping streamline processes where possible, we (Becca and Andrew) are here to make sure your volunteer experience is a great one. If you need anything (being dropped off to session in a Rolls-Royce is a non-starter), have any worthwhile suggestions, or simply want to chat about what makes Minds Matter great, email us at volunteer@mindsmatter.org.
